Three highways cross on top of each other at Pflugerville, and the wrecks there are fast, multi-vehicle, and messy about fault. A Pflugerville car accident lawyer earns his keep in exactly that kind of case, where four drivers each blame the other three. Shane M. Boasberg has been licensed in Texas since 2003 and builds these files himself, with that fight in mind from the first week.
Pflugerville sits on top of some of the busiest highway junctions in the metro, feeding commuters toward Austin and freight toward the SH-130 corridor. High-speed merges and toll-road interchanges tend to produce more severe crashes, and we build claims with that severity — and the medical and wage losses that come with it — in mind.
Where a Pflugerville car accident claim is filed
Pflugerville is in Travis County, not Williamson, which surprises people whose neighbors up the road file in Georgetown. A lawsuit from a Pflugerville crash goes to the Travis County Civil and Family Courthouse on Guadalupe Street, a few blocks from our office. We are in that building regularly and know how its judges move these cases.
Most claims settle without a petition ever being filed. Venue still shapes the negotiation, because the adjuster is pricing the risk of a Travis County jury rather than a Williamson County one, and those are meaningfully different rooms.
How little coverage Texas actually requires
The number that surprises people most is the state minimum: $30,000 per injured person, $60,000 per crash, and $25,000 for property damage. Tex. Transp. Code § 601.072. A high-speed interchange collision passes that in the ambulance.
Which is why your own underinsured motorist coverage is often where the real recovery lives. Texas insurers must offer UM/UIM in writing, and it sits on your policy unless you rejected it in writing. Tex. Ins. Code § 1952.101. Pull your declarations page and look before you assume the money is not there.
How fault gets divided in a pileup
Texas uses proportionate responsibility. Tex. Civ. Prac. & Rem. Code § 33.001 cuts off recovery entirely once you are more than 50% at fault, and § 33.012 reduces the award by your percentage below that line.
In a single-defendant rear-end case that math is simple. In a five-car chain at the SH-130 interchange it is the whole case: each insurer argues its driver was 10% responsible and yours was 40%, and the percentages are litigated as hard as the injuries. That is where the crash report, the vehicle damage patterns, and any dash-cam footage decide who pays.
Two years, and the exception for children
You have two years from the crash to file suit. Tex. Civ. Prac. & Rem. Code § 16.003. Section 16.001 holds that clock for a minor until the child turns eighteen, so a child hurt in a Pflugerville wreck has until twenty. Parents close their own claims and assume the child was covered by the same date. They were not.

What a Pflugerville claim is worth
No one can hand you a number on the first call. What drives it is the severity and permanence of the injury, the medical costs already run up and still ahead, the wages lost, and how cleanly the evidence assigns fault. A rear-end collision on Pflugerville Parkway with a clear narrative is worth more than a disputed merge on SH-130, even with identical MRIs.
The first offer is a position, not a valuation. It is priced on the odds that you will take certain money now.

We are only about 16 miles south in downtown Austin, a short trip down I-35 or SH-130, and because we are right by the courthouse, Pflugerville cases are especially easy for us to move. We still handle most consultations by phone and video for your convenience.
At SMB Law, PC you work with Shane M. Boasberg directly. He has been licensed in Texas since 2003 and has spent those years opposite adjusters and the lawyers who defend them. You get his read on the case in plain English, not a version passed down through staff.

The FM 685 problem
Pflugerville’s crash story runs down FM 685. A late-night two-vehicle crash at FM 685 and East Pfennig Lane killed a woman in January 2026, and the city itself has targeted FM 685 intersections in its capital improvement program — official acknowledgment of the corridor’s problem. Add SH-130’s speeds (a fatal wreck shut its northbound lanes), SH-45, and Pflugerville Parkway’s retail load, and you have the local risk map.
What to do in the first week
- Get examined the same day. Go even if you feel fine. Adrenaline hides soft-tissue and head injuries for a day or two, and any gap between the crash and your first visit is the first thing an adjuster will use against the claim.
- Request the crash report. A Texas peace officer must file a CR-3 report on any crash involving injury, death, or roughly $1,000 in damage. Tex. Transp. Code § 550.026. Pflugerville PD works city streets; the Department of Public Safety works the tollways and I-35.
- Photograph everything, including the other vehicles. In a multi-vehicle interchange wreck, the damage patterns across all the cars are what later prove the order of impact. Get your injuries as they develop, too. Camera footage from nearby businesses is usually overwritten within a couple of weeks.
- Notify your own insurer and nobody else. Your policy requires prompt notice to your carrier. It does not require you to give the other driver’s insurer a recorded statement, and in a pileup those statements get used to shift percentages onto you.
Injuries in Pflugerville often overlap with other collisions; we also represent people hurt in an 18-wheeler crash, a motorcycle crash, and a pedestrian accident claim, backed by our Austin-based car accident attorneys.
Frequently asked questions
Four cars were involved and everyone is blaming everyone. What happens now?
Each insurer investigates separately and each one has an interest in moving responsibility onto a driver it does not cover. Percentages get assigned, argued, and often revised. What settles it is physical evidence: the damage patterns across all the vehicles, the final rest positions, the crash report, and any dash-cam footage. That evidence needs to be collected before the cars are repaired or scrapped.
Should I give the other driver’s insurer a recorded statement?
No, not before you have talked to a lawyer. In a multi-vehicle wreck those statements are the raw material for shifting fault percentages onto you. Your own carrier is different: your policy requires you to report the crash promptly.
What does a Pflugerville car accident lawyer cost?
Nothing to start. These cases run on a contingency fee, so the fee comes out of the recovery and there is no fee if there is no recovery. The percentage and the handling of case expenses go in writing and are explained before you sign.
Do I have to travel far to work with SMB Law from Pflugerville?
No. Our office is about sixteen miles south, a short trip down I-35 or SH-130, and we handle Pflugerville consultations and case updates by phone and video whenever that is easier.
How long does a Pflugerville car accident case take?
A clean claim with one at-fault driver and finished treatment can resolve in a few months. Multi-vehicle interchange crashes take longer, because fault has to be sorted among several insurers before anyone talks about money, and serious injuries cannot be valued until your doctors can say where you will end up.
A Pflugerville crash puts you into a negotiation you did not choose, against people who do this for a living, often with several insurers pointing at each other while a two-year clock runs. You do not have to sort that out alone, and nothing has to be decided today. Call SMB Law, PC at (512) 561-5003 for a free and confidential consultation, and we will tell you honestly whether you need a lawyer at all.
